On a recent search I found some good ways that are both free and require no downloading as well as one that you you must download to use. Here are some good ways of converting those pesky PDF files that many eBook Readers have problems viewing.
Media Convert: A website that offers almost any kind of file conversion imaginable. It is a free service that is totally web based so no downloads required. If you just need a few PDF files converted this would be a good service to try. If you have a huge amount of files to convert though this might be a bit slow as I didnt see an option for batch converting. If your eBook Reader has a browser and you find a book you like but it is a PDF then you can have the file converted online and sent directly to your your device. The only limitation is that the file cant be over 150mb.
Zamzar: Very similar to Media Convert this site offers free online file conversion. The layout is a little cleaner but it seems like they don’t offer as many features as Media Convert. The file size limitation is 100mb. Try this if Media Convert didn’t do a good job of converting your file.
Some PDF: A site that offers free conversion software. The positive thing about these besides being free are that they allow you to do batch conversions if you have alot of file to convert. The conversion programs they offer are:
- PDF to Word
- PDF to Html
- PDF to Text
- Text to PDF
- PDF Image Extractor
Amazon Conversion Service: If you have a Kindle then you probably know about there conversion service where you can send a PDF file and have it converted and sent to back to you. You might also have heard that you need to pay 10 cents for wireless transfers but according to a recent article from Kindleville about the conversion service, Amazon is currently not charging for this service. Another tip mentioned in the article was that you can zip multiple files and send them in to have them all converted at once.
Mobipocket Software: While the free software offered here is not specifically meant for just file conversion they do allow you to convert files. Use either the Mobi Creator or MobiPocket Desktop.
